Today is my English language day.
I mean, if I were traveling to some Medittaranian ultra chic location (rural landscape is also more than welcome), I would be speaking more of foreign languages than I do here, working and keeping alive Belgrade cafes.
When about vacations, yesterday I have read the latest column by Jeanne Marie Laskas in Washington Post. It starts with:
"Oh. My. God. We are coming back here next year," I say. We have just walked up to our little rented beach house, and I might faint. I can't believe this place. It's a lovingly restored Victorian. With a porch. And rocking chairs. There are flowers. And trees!"[I am envious].
Then she goes on with deciding to stay there not only the next year, but also to retire in this place, and all those exagerated things we can do in such circumstances (when falling in love). Ok, so, she is cool, and I have read her colmn for three years already. Or so. Interesting life story she has.
But my first discovery was Laura. Almost five years ago. I clearly remember googlying "New York", "girl" and "story". And there I found her: http://www.laurasnyctales.com
Then I have discovered Amy Sohn (I wrote about her too many times here, so go to New York Magazine for more about Mating etc).
Finally, there are bloggers! Apart of my personal friends whose blogs I read with delight [those who have secret ones, please tell me], there are those from Serbia and Croatia whose fan I became in last several months. Some are fun because they are great persons. Others are jerks, but write in a great way. There are even those who combine both.
And last, but not least, there are two most recent discoveries:
Greek tragedy: http://stephanieklein.blogs.com/greek_tragedy/ [dicovered through New York Times]
and Caroline, writing in Italian [discovred through comments on previous blog]: http://www.faicomecaroline.splinder.com.
As data published in the last days show, there is one blog created every second. I think it's great I know this small portion of it. But then, I am also happy for those I know, because they open new worlds to me.
In the meantime, the temperature has dropped from 33 C to 23 C. Yupi. It will be celebrated with chicken breasts in yoghurt, first cooked meal in days.
