Shambolic Symbolic

avatar I have decided to write this occasional column.
Why: When I travel there are plenty of things to explain to the people: What it is like here, and why. Then, how the country is called right now, and what we mean by some terms. Where we are? Was it difficult during th bombing? I've been asked things starting from: 'Is Serbia in the European Union?' to: 'Is Serbia in Europe?' In both cases conversations were happening in Europe and included Europeans. (Disclaimer: Things concerning Serbia ARE strange. Explaining them IS tiring).

So, I thought, I could write regularly and think about the stuff. So, when somebody asks, I could refer to this site and spend my time talking about something else. Asking questions about Denmark, for example. Guessing who would win the next Eurovision song. Sharing food recipes. Such issues, you know.
My favourite (hate) topics are media in Serbia and traffic in Belgrade.
One recent example related to the former, that I am personally related to.
avatarrLast week there was a text in Politika about people from Serbia who participated at this competition. Among them was our blog. Although all data were made available in written, in just one paragraph dealing with our projects they made two changes/mistakes. The name of the blog was written, but web address got omitted. Why and how remains unclear. At the same time, for equally unknown reason, bloG became bloK. I guess, actually am quite sure, that somebody there thought: 'Hm, blog? This doesn't seem to mean anything. It must be blok.' [blok=notebook]. I don't know who is responsible in this case: Journalist, editor or proofreader, but any way situation remains the same: Even when given exact and written data the 'oldest daily in the Balkans' is not capable of presenting them properly.

How stupid is that?
